Geschichte

Das Asahi-Linux-Projekt wurde 2021 von Hector Martin gestartet. Nach der VerΓΆffentlichung der ersten Arm-Macs 2020 hatte Linus Torvalds bedauert, sich zwar einen Arm-Laptop fΓΌr die Linux-Entwicklung zu wΓΌnschen, dass die von Apple produzierten Macs mit β€žApple Siliconβ€œ jedoch nicht dafΓΌr geeignet seien solange Apple geschlossene proprietΓ€re Hardware verwende.cite-ref-9to5mac-20230221-4-0[4] Das kleine Projekt-Team arbeitet per Reverse Engineering an der UnterstΓΌtzung fΓΌr Apples Hardware.cite-ref-computerbase-202101-5-0[5] Diese soll auch von anderen Distributionen ΓΌbernommen werden kΓΆnnen.cite-ref-6[6]

Am 13. Februar 2025 trat Hector Martin aus dem Asahi-Linux-Projekt zurΓΌck, nachdem es zuvor zu Unstimmigkeiten mit anderen Linux-Kernel-Maintainern gekommen war.cite-ref-7[7]

UnterstΓΌtzte Hardware

Die Alpha-Version ist zwar nutzbar, unterstΓΌtzt aber noch nicht die gesamte Hardware von Arm-Macs. Asahi Linux richtet sich in der derzeitigen Form an Profis.cite-ref-computerbase-202207-8-0[8]
